UConn Assistant Gets DePaul Job
Dave Leitao, an assistant under Jim Calhoun at Connecticut,
was selected DePaul's new basketball coach Tuesday night, ending a six-week
search for Pat Kennedy's successor. Kennedy resigned March 5 after a 9-19 season, his third losing campaign in
five years at DePaul, which also made the NIT and NCAA tournaments during his
stay. After leaving DePaul, Kennedy took the head coaching job at Montana. Leitao, 41, has been an assistant at Connecticut for a total of 14 years
over two stints, including the past six years. The Huskies won the national
championship in 1999.
